Falmouth * Event

St. Ives Gig Club enjoyed a full day of racing at the first Tribute event this season, held at Falmouth's Gyllyngvase Beach on Saturday. With a number of regular rowers absent, it proved an opportunity for some younger and newer members to gain valuable race experience alongside the more seasoned oarsmen and women.

Conditions were ideal, despite light rain during the mens' "A" race where St.Ives finished 20th out of the 35 clubs attending. The mens' "B" crew also came in 20th place and the Ladies B were 24th. With only light wind, no rain and a calm sea, St. Ives ladies A crew enjoyed a good race, finishing 2nd in their heat, and in 21st position overall.

Unfortunately, the freshening N.E. wind on Sunday prevented St. Ives gig club holding their own rowing event at Carbis Bay on Sunday.
