Rower's Diary 28st February 2009 (4th Instalment)

Well....training was very interesting on Saturday. Firstly, I received a rapturous
applause from all the men for my performance last Saturday!! (I think they are
secretly worried that if they go drinking with me again that they wont be able to
keep up!!!)

We were 3 rowers down (Naomi, Pip and Alex.....hope you are all ok) so we had to put
up with 2 of the mens crew joining us. (We were very grateful...thanks) Well it all
started very jovial as we left the bay.....we were very rhythmic thanks to a certain
male with a very distinctive breathing pattern!!!! I think you all know who I mean!
The conversation did centre round this certain person and questions were asked if he
practiced this breathing method in other strenuous activities!!!! But Jack soon put
us back on the right track again. We did get the impression that he was not in the
mood to take prisoners!! He meant business. Oh yes.......he soon shut us up by
announcing that we would not be getting a break until we reached the beach.......and
I don't mean St Ives beach (which is what we all prayed for!!!) oh no....he meant
back at Carbis Bay beach.

I'm not sure if anyone else was in the boat with me as I only heard Jack shout my
name for repeated mistakes!!! (sorry Jack...I have given up the Baileys, beer, chocs
etc.... for a while!!) We reached St Ives and did a handbrake turn and worked our
way back to Carbis Bay! I was so relieved to see the beach....but oh no...Jack
wasn't finished with us yet! He volunteered me, Louise and Ros for another row!!!
I have to say that the second row was much better for me. I was in my groove again!
Obviously the first row acted as a good warm up! (or should I say steam up!)

I think we all enjoyed it really! I crawled home........I went to bed about 10.30pm.

Ready to row another day!

See you all on Saturday.
